ANZAC Day

Allanah is taking some of the kids in Moturoa to the Dawn Parade in Nelson on ANZAC Day morning. We are learning about the ANZACs and why we have a special remembrance day. If you would like to join us a little before 6:30am at ANZAC Park in Nelson it would be great to see you there.

Here are some of the links we will be using in our learning about ANZAC Day.

I found this little poem for ANZAC day and decided to share it.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Least we forget

I set the last part of that verse as our poem of the week for children to commit to memory.

They said it at the service this morning as well.
