Go Miss King

Miss King and Jackson V showed excellent technique in golf. Chris taught us how to play golf. We had fun learning swing and putt. Alyishia was the first one with the putt to get a hole in one!

The Appleby School Tryathlon.

The whole school took part in the Appleby Tryathlon but Maungatapu didn't do it because they made it happen. But why did it happen? Because of the Commonwealth Games. We had to do swimming, running and biking on the tryathlon.

Commonwealth/Olympic athlete visits Appleby

An athlete from the Bahamas team came and visted Appleby today. Her name was Chloe Powell. She is Tyler's aunty. Here are some facts about her.

Chloe ran 100 metres in 11.4 seconds at the 1972 Munich Olympics. When she was there some terrorists came to kill some people in another team. Now she plays tennis. She has won 25-30 trophies.

Chloe was an excellent role model for children to keep on trying to achieve their goals and to believe in themselves. Chloe was a ground breaking athlete who was the first woman from the Bahamas to attend an Olympic games. It was great for them to talk with someone who has accomplished so much.

Swimming Sports

What a great day we had today at the Waimea South Swimming Sports. There seemed like there were thousands of children all trying their very best to swim their best and show off their skills.

Jackson V's mum took these photos at the start of one of the races.
