A new student teacher

Since Denise Lee has been with us she has been a big, big help with everything and we like her a lot. She has taught us a game called Buzzy Bee and we played a fun game of netball with her. Denise came from the U.K and came to New Zealand in 2001. She has been teacher-aide at Henley for three years. She came to our class on the last day of Term One when we went on the trip to town.

Moturoa goes to town!

To celebrate the last day of term we went to Nelson to visit the museum and study landforms. We got to look at a whole lot of different rocks. We even got to hold a lava bomb and a fossil that was 100 million years old! In this photo our new student teacher, Denise Lee, helped us learn about some different rock types.

After lunch we had a special treat. A visit to the movies to be the very first people in Nelson to see the Academy Award winning movie, 'March of the Penguins'. What an excellent movie! We would recommend it to everyone.

No Spelling Homework!

What a clever bunch of children I teach! Every Friday I give out the spelling homework for the children to learn throughout the week and test on Thursday. Because we were getting ready for assembly and it was a very busy day I forgot and not a single child thought to remind me! They ALL kept very quiet until the moment had passed and now it is too late to spend time learning words ready for tomorrow's test! I didn't know they could be so quiet!!!

Here is the text of an email attachment that I received which shows us the value of good spelling.
