The photo you have posted here is from just around the corner from my house. I pass this bit of road on the way to school each day. Yes it really is as bad as it looks. Today I spent the afternoon helping a family from school shift to a house on the other side of town. Their house was quite badly damaged. The thing I have found to be the most amazing is the silt that has just bubbled up all over the place. Quite amazing to see.
Hello! We came across your blog and really like it! We are a Gr.5 class from Bangkok, Thailand! We found your photos of the recent earthquake horrifying. A few of us students will be visiting New Zealand in the near future. We hope you are all ok. How long do you think it will take to rebuild/recover? The picture of the train-tracks was really eye-catching, interesting and amazing.
Thank you for sharing those pictures with us. Please visit our class blog at http://inside.isb.ac.th/rm230
Dear Moturoa School, wow, that earthquake hit hard. That's a huge crack in the road. It has been on my mind for the last few days and I think I am lucky I don't live in Christchurch. Did you feel the shake in Nelson? We studied natural disasters in Term one and learnt what to do in an earthquake, but I would still be scared.

Your Christchurch photos looked really scary and we would hate to be in Christchurch at the time of the earthquake. It will take a long time to repair Christchurch.

Thank you for visiting our blog. It will take a few months to get everything sorted out but but some buildings will need to be demolished and others will be fine.
Most people have somewhere to stay and power and water have been restored.
Thank you for thinking of us.

Our grade 4 class is learning about earthquakes in science. Was this your first experience with an earthquake? When you had your earthquake, were you scared? What were you thinking when you realized it was a big earthquake?
We looked on a map and you are a little way away from Christchurch. Was it still very strong in Nelson? Did you know what to do and where to go to stay safe?
We are very curious and have lots of questions. Maybe we could chat one day.
Cool picture of the christchurch earthquake.
