Controlling flight
We have been making paper planes. This photo is of Jackson throwing a paper plane. He wants the paper plane to do a roll. He put one of the ailerons down and the other one up.

Crazy Hair Day!
On Friday it was Crazy Hair Day! Everybody had crazy hair and it looked really cool. We had crazy hair day because it was Daffodil Day and we were donating money to the Cancer Society. There were 10 spot prizes for people who had the most craziest hair! It was really cool and everybody had a great time!

Miss K visits Point England School in Auckland
What a day out in the big city! I had to get up really early to catch the 7:00am plane up to Auckland. All started out well but as we sat on the runway ready to go the pilot said that one of the propellors wouldn't start properly so we all had to get off and wait for a couple of hours for them to get another plane!
I took this photo of Mt Taranaki once the new plane got underway.
We got to Auckland a couple of hours late and missed out on seeing how the students from Point England School put together their daily TV broadcast. We got there to see the final part where their show is broadcast to the school. It was excellent.
Then we watched as Alosina, Charin and David recorded their latest podcast. They were excellent and I learnt a lot about how they managed and organised their recording. Great skills.
Here is a web link to listen to Point England Podcasts
And for the KPE kids a link to Appleby School's podcasts
After that we went to visit Room 15 where we were excited to find out the email I had sent to Point England school to encourage their podcasters had been printed out and children were looking to reply to it. I even had my photo taken with the printed email to prove it!
It was a great day out and I really appreciated the welcome we got from the Point England staff and children. Thank you so much Point England.
On the way home in the plane I took this photo from the plane window. In the distance you can see Mount Ruapehu and Mount Tongariro. What do you think that big triangle of shadow is on the land below. Write what you think it is in the comments and I will let you know if you are right on Monday!

Hayden's Remote Controlled Plane
Powered by Castpost
Today Hayden brought his remote controlled plane to school and showed us how the aerolons on the back surface of the wings made the plane go up or down and how he made the plane swoop and soar. He was really good at it. Here is a video of Hayden and the plane. The video is 2MB big so it may take a little while on dial-up but well worth the wait as you see hayden make the plane do fantastic loops. If you need to get Quicktime to view the movie follow the link below. When you click play and you see a big blue Q on the scren then you know all you will have to do is wait!

An Artist Visits Moturoa
Today we had the privilege of being taught by Nelson artist Jo T. Jo taught us more about seeing deeply into our artwork and to enjoy and appreciate what we had accomplished. Miss K started off with showing us some interesting pictures and video of kakapo on the computer, then Jo showed us how to identify all the colours we could see of the kakapo and then she drew a stunning drawing in pastel.
After that we had a go with chalk pastel on black paper and drew these magificent roosters! Awesome!
Please come and see our work on the wall in the classroom.
