Cefn Fforest makes a Voicethread about Cuddly Kiwi

This week Cefn Fforest School made us a wonderful Voicethread that shows the adventures of Cuddly Kiwi, a small toy that we sent to them last year. Paul H, the Cefn Fforest teacher, is starting a new job in December so is intending to send Cuddly Kiwi back to us. It will be great to see him back in New Zealand for a warm Kiwi Christmas. Cuddly Kiwi's End of Year Video

It was MatthewB's birthday party a little while ago and Cuddly Kiwi got to go to the birthday party. Matthew's Dad is very clever with a computer program called Photoshop and he managed to make it so Cuddly Kiwi looked over the heads of the children so he could see the wonderful birthday cake. As you know Matthew is very keen on football (soccer).Our buddy school, Cefn Fforest School in Wales, have just had the last day of their school year- how odd is that! Because it is summer in the northern hemisphere they have their end of the school year now and only a shorter break at Christmas time.

Mr H put together this video of all the things that Cuddly Kiwi has been doing while he has been in Wales. Over the holidays Jordan M is going to take him to Spain. How cool will that be!

Cuddly Kiwi enjoys sporting success

Mr H's class made this post on their blog about Cuddly Kiwi's sporting successes. These photos show Cuddly Kiwi with the Under 8 year old Cefn Fforest Soccer Trophy. They forgot to write who is the boy in the photo but I think he is very clever. It is of course Matthew B. Sorry Matthew.

Class 3H star gymnast, Chantelle, took part in a Rotary Club International, Team Gymnastics Competition. It was held at a local Leisure Centre and was a competition for 4 local gymnastics clubs. Chantelle was Team Captain for her club - Cwmcarn (not bad to be captain at 8 years old!!).
Not only did Cwmcarn win the competiton.... but Chantelle was the gymnast with the highest individual score in the competition. She brought the shield that her team won in to show them in an assembly last week.

Cuddly Kiwi goes to Caerphilly Castle

Cefn Fforest hockey team went to a place called Bedwas by minibus to play in a hockey tournament. We took your Cuddly Kiwi along as a mascot... he had a brilliant time in the sun.

He was basking, taking in the sun's rays. He drew quite a crowd wondering who he was.

On the way home we took Cuddly Kiwi have a look at Caerphilly Castle - world renowned for it's leaning tower (which you can see behind his head in the photograph).

Cuddly Kiwi visits a Harris Hawk in Wales

Will, a blogging buddy from Cefn Fforest School in Wales, took our travelling toy home with him when he visited his grandma.

"When Cuddly Kiwi visited my Grandma's I held Cuddly and a Harris Hawk called Nearly because she was nearly sold. I fed the bird- he didn't eat Kiwi."

Cuddly Kiwi plays in the snow

Leanne, a child from Cefn Fforest School in Wales, took Cuddly Kiwi home for a while recently and took these photos in their recent snowfall that closed the school for two days. He is sitting in a toboggan waiting for Leanne to come and take him for a ride. With all this sunshine around Nelson it would be fun to play in the snow. Especially when the school is closed!Leanne took Cuddly Kiwi to her Dad's work. Can you see him on the fancy fork-lift truck!
For those who don't know- we have swapped toys with the Welsh Cefn Fforest School. They gave us our big 'Travelling Ted' bear and the smaller 'Tiny Ted' geocache bear that you will see in many of last year's blog posts.

Cuddly Kiwi Goes to London

Cuddly Kiwi has found a new home in Wales among the children of Cefn Fforest School.

Last weekend Bethan took him to London. They went to Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London to see the Crown Jewels. They saw a Beefeater- he is like a guard at the Tower of London.Here is Bethan and Cuddly Kiwi at the Big Ben clock. It looks like they are dressed to keep nice and warm.
They went to see the London Eye, which looks like a REALLY big ferris wheel. Each of those pods you can see is big enough to hold 25 people.
They even went to Hogwarts Station to Platfrom Nine and Three Quarters!!!
They didn't get to see the Queen but they did see her flag flying on top of Buckingham Palace so she must have been home!

Cuddly Kiwi Visits the London

A Kiwi Arrives in Wales

On Friday night NZ time and Friday morning in Wales, after only one short week of jet setting about the globe Cuddly Kiwi arrived safely at Cefn Fforest School in Wales. With him he took letters, photos and the good wishes of all the children in Moturoa classroom.Here he is just as the children discover what is in the parcel. They had heard some chirpy noises coming out of the parcel before it was opened as Mr Harrington had squeezed it a little too tightly! Cuddly Kiwi was ready for a breath of fresh air.
He soon set out to discover his new home. It is Christmas in Wales as well. Look at the wonderful Christmas tree in 3H classroom. Kiwi aren't used to perching in trees but he is doing well.
Here is where 3H class does some of their computing. He is starting to feel at home!

Cuddly Kiwi Leaves for Wales

Shanac was very emotional when Cuddly Kiwi left for Wales. We pierced Kiwis toe and put a pin with the Wales and the New Zealand flags on it.

The three people that put a post on the Playground Blog got to go out for lunch at Subway. They were Georgia, Elliott and Jessica. Here is Elliott scoffing his roll down.
