Chess

Today we used Guess and Check for problem Solving.

Using a chessboard and 8 counters the counters must be placed on the board so that there is only one counter occupying each vertical, horizontal and diagonal ie there cannot be any other piece on the same line as another. Sounds easy, but it is a little harder than you think.

We worked hard and some of us solved the problem before lunch time.

  1. Hi Moturoa, Come to my blog and guess what happened to the party balloons and chip bag we sent up to 100,000 feet (30,480m). We will show you photos later so you can see what happened!

  2. Hi Allanah. Try this version of chess from thinkfun. There's an iphone app for it too. You have to leave 1 piece remaining using normal chess moves. Each move must result in a capture. The physical game can be bought from crackerjack.
